The popular card game 3-2-5 or Teen Do Paanch is sometimes referred to as 2-3-5 or 5-3-2. It is an interesting card game played for decades in the Indian subcontinent with a pack of 30 cards. The game is played with three players only and has been the same whether it is played as a physical game or online.
According to the game brief, the three players will have to score 3, 2, and 5 tricks or hands respectively. The player/s who wins more hands than their assigned number will have an advantage in the next round. The 3-2-5 game is similar to the 52-card game Sergeant Major or commonly known as 3-5-8 or 8-5-3.
In South Asian card games, the word “hand” is often used which is known as a “trick” in the west. For instance, a set of cards where one card is played by each opponent simultaneously and the best card wins. It can be confusing for some players because the word “hand” has other meanings. For example, it can also mean the set of cards held by a player or the period of play from one deal to the subsequent deal.
The game is played with three players where one is the dealer, second is the cutter, and the third player. The dealer will distribute the cards equally among the players and the cutter will cut the deck and call out the trump. The player with the trump card typically sits on the right side of the dealer and the cutter sits on the left.
